50 Cent Fires Warning Shots At Rick Ross

Last year, 50 Cent didn't have the year he thought he should have had. He wasn't alone in thinking that. Many fans also believed 2007 wasn't quite the best year for Fif. Some even went so far as to say he may have been falling off. Now, 50 admits there were errors made, but he mainly puts the blame on the label. According to new reports, 50 is stating that the label heads, including Eminem, asked Fif not to release too many mixtapes citing that the tapes would take away from his official album record sales.

"They think I'm crazy," 50 told MTV about Eminem and label heads. "Sometimes [Em] misses why I put it out. He goes, 'Why did you put it out?' But I can't be as hot as I'm gonna be if I don't play around. I gotta spar before I go fight the champ. That's my concept of it. If I don't go out and make material and lock in, I'm not gonna make the best possible material for the next [official] project."

Aside from mixtapes and albums, 50 has also been working on beef. Recently, he and Fat Joe were in the midst of a war of words and photos. Now, he is going against rumors that claim he created a photoshopped picture of Joe's wife.

"The Hip-Hop Weekly [a fake cover] came out, and it was a thing with [Benzino] supposed to be [sleeping] with Fat Joe's wife. I didn't make that. I didn't have anyone [Photoshop] that. Why would you do that? I work for Hip-Hop Weekly? They'll know that there are issues between me and Joe, so when he approaches them, they'll say, 'Nah, it must be 50. You know how 50 is.' But I didn't care, 'cause I don't like Joe neither. It doesn't matter to me that they did it, but it didn't come from me."

Now, 50 is throwing warning shots at another MC, Rick Ross.

"Rick Ross is doing good. I also complimented him that he had the #1 album. I said, 'Just don't stand too close to this fat piece of ...' I'm saying that because of what [Joe's] trying to do. He runs to Miami and hangs out with them like he's running Miami? Does Fat Joe run Miami? I don't think Fat Joe runs Miami. I think people from Miami would be upset you're even questioning that. The fact he can influence DJ Khaled on the radio, does that mean Fat Joe runs Miami? ... I don't care if [Khaled] ever plays my records. He's not important enough to what I'm doing for it to matter. Not to say Miami doesn't count. He doesn't count for it to matter to me."

G-Unit's next LP, Lock and Load is scheduled to drop in the Summer. Before I Self Destruct, 50's new album is set to hit shelves late in 08.

Brother Ali Ends Tour, Supports Soulja Boy

Brother Ali wraps up his Rhymesayers: The Truth Is Here Tour today, performing the 30th and final show of his 32 day tour.

Known in the Hip Hop world as a prolific storyteller, Rhymesayers crew member, Brother Ali has stormed the stage with artists such as Rakim, Ghostface Killah, Mos Def, Living Legends, Souls of Mischief, Atmosphere and Murs.

Ali hit the road once again, this time performing tracks from his last album and second major LP to date, the 2007 The Undisputed Truth [click here to read review...], entirely produced by Ant of Atmosphere.

Citing his the lyrics from "Forest Whitiker", Ali preached to a sold-out house of Hip Hop heads at the Middle East Restaurant & Nightclub on Friday in New York City. "To everyone out there who's a little different/I say damn a magazine, these are God's fingerprints." The eager crowd followed by chanting: "Whatever comes up comes out/We don't put our hands over our mouth."

According to The Boston Globe, Ali also cautiously admitted that while being a fan of Soulja Boy, he doesn't have anything in common with corporate tied emcees who find "eight different ways to describe diamonds sparkling."

As Ali made his way through the West, South, and East coast, it was at the Middle East where he wrapped up his show with an impromptu verse of "Ear to Ear" from his The Undisputed Truth album, yelling "What can I say/I got a brand new baby daughter on the way."

This will be Ali's second child, but first for him and his new wife. His son Faheem was conceived during his 10 year marriage to his Muslim ex-wife who turned violent towards him and their son.

The rapper who wears his heart on his sleeve, gave personal, political and powerful performances during the tour. The final show is tonight in Chicago at 9 p.m. at the Abbey Pub.

Prodigy's Last Words As A Free Man

In his final video before entering his prison term, Prodigy spoke on his upcoming album, H.N.I.C. 2, respecting people who speak their minds, and what fans should expect from him upon being released.

The 10 minute, self-recorded, clip featured Prodigy accompanied by his wife as he drove through the Holland Tunnel to turn himself in to his three-and-a-half-year bid. Balancing driving and recording, he slightly touched on the upcoming follow-up to his 2000 album H.N.I.C.

I’m fittin’ to turn [myself] in. I’ll be right back,Prodigy said. “Trust me, I’m leaving y’all with a dope album, so look forward for all of that. Video crazy. Everything’s crazy. I love it when a job comes together. The music speaks for itself,” he continued.

Rather than speaking on the actual case or his personal feelings, Prodigy analyzed his current situation by looking on the more positive side. “Take the good with the bad. Turn a bad situation to a great one, so just know that,” the Queens rapper said.

While shouting out people throughout the entire length of the recording, Prodigy expressed more emphasis on certain individuals including close friends. “Shout out to [Havoc]. H, hold your head, I love you, my nigga. Alchemist, you know. Shout out to 50. To my kids. Y’all be good, listen to mommy,Prodigy continued.

Ironically, he thanked the judge for the additional time he was given explaining how he was able to use it to finish his album amongst other things.

Shout out to the judge, he looked out for me. He did the right thing,Prodigy exclaimed.

In a more serious tone, he offered his condolence for fans upset at the situation and explained what separated him from certain others entertainers. “Shout out to the whole New York. Don’t be mad ‘cause P speaks his mind and tell you how he feels. Respect that. Don’t have respect for the nigga that hides shit—scared to say how he feels,Prodigy said.

Approaching the court, P briefly assured that things would be back to business upon his release with a new Mobb Deep album. “Wait ‘til we come back—drop this new Mobb Deep. Hit the road, overseas. We gonna be overseas like a motherfucker. Everything’s gonna be right back to business,Prodigy concluded.

Prodigy’s H.N.I.C. 2 is schedule for release on April 22, 2008.

Yung Ralph Look Like Money Video

Yung Ralph has already made a name for himself on the back of his wildly successful single, “Look Like Money.” A motivating track with a catchy hook and chorus, “Look Like Money” is not only a club banger but also a popular ring tone that is quickly becoming more than just a regional hit.

Beanie Sigel Sent Back to Jail

Beanie Sigel, who spent a year in jail for drug and weapons charges in 2004, was in federal court yesterday (March 28) for violating terms issued with his supervised release for a third time.

After submitting a false urine sample to probation officials on February 29th. As well as testing positive for controlled substances (including Xanax and Percocet) five times throughout the month; Sigel was sentenced to three months in prison with an additional year of supervised release.

According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Beanie Sigel (whose real name is Dwight Grant) was immediately taken into custody after being denied the opportunity to “self-surrender” when he got his personal affairs in order by U.S. District Judge R. Barclay Surrick.

“I told you last time if you didn’t toe the line, jail was the only option,” Surrick said. “Mr. Grant is a big boy and he knows what the rules are. At some point, he has to grow up.”

Sigel explained that he was an addict and “had a relapse” that had been triggered by financial pressure which stemmed from him not being able to travel to perform at big-venue concerts (his main source of income), a condition that was received as Sigel was placed in a halfway house for violating parole [click to read...]

“I’m losing everything because of this situation,” Sigel said after admitting he had put himself there. Which garnished a response from Surrick: “I’ve heard your explanation, but that does not excuse your conduct.”
Surrick then questioned Sigel about income that he receives from record sales. Sigel explained that he only “gets 14 cents on the dollar for every CD that is sold, and that is only after the record companies get their money off the top.”

Beanie Sigel released his fourth studio album, The Solution, in December.

The Game Talks About The White Rapper Show

Haha this is some funny shit.

Gnarls Barkley The Odd Couple Album Review

Gnarls Barkley are a musical tandem uniquely suited for each other - both men are as enigmatic as they are fascinating. Whether singing or rapping, Thomas DeCarlo Callaway b/k/a Cee-Lo lays his entire life on the line lyrically. Few artists have ever been such an open book when it comes to discussing religion, sexuality, politics and everything from self-loathing to exuberant joy. Brian Joseph Burton b/k/a Danger Mouse puts the E in eclectic like few producers have before him or since. A broad range of artists have called on Mr. Mouse for his beats, ranging from cult hip-hop favorites MF DOOM and Jemini the Gifted One to chart-topping sensations Gorillaz and The Rapture. His sound is a square peg that doesn't fit neatly into the round holes of any one genre. It would be far too easy to say his rap sounds like eletronica, his pop sounds like rock or his rock sounds like rap. For Burton such distinctions are entirely malleable - he can freeform shape music into anything that strikes his fancy. Pairing the two together on "St. Elsewhere" resulted in an unexpected and exciting musical menagerie that seemed destined to spark strong debate. This writer picked it as one of 2006's ten best while staff writer DJ Complejo only gave it 6.5 out of 10 overall.

Like many writers and fans I incorrectly assumed this was a one time flight of fancy for two creative cats looking to collaborate and cross boundaries. Discovering Gnarls Barkley had returned for "The Odd Couple" caused me such excitement I immediately plunked down $9.99 for the album on iTunes. This was not the kind of CD I could wait to get a promo copy of in the mail or wait until I could afford the gas for a trip to the record store. NOW. I needed this album NOW. There are very few artists who can make me that excited, so in essence Gnarls Barkley had already won even before this review began. Before going any further though it's worth stating for the record that the rapper Cee-Lo you may have recognized from the Goodie Mob days has now basically ceased to exist, and some of his old school hip-hop fans may be holding that against him. Frankly that's a terrible mistake and I implore, no I BESEECH those of you reading who feel that way to reconsider. Cee-Lo is still a lyricist whether he's singing or rapping. The clicking claves, guitar licks and upbeat 1960's pop tempo of "Surprise" may fool you into thinking the song is happy-go-lucky, but Callaway is as serious as cancer on the track:

"Now the ending to ev-e-ry story is most enchanting
Now, whether it's heaven or hell
I wear it well; please forgive me for rambling
I just wanted y'all
To know that I don't know it all
So when that big ol' smile ends up, bein just a disguise
Don't be surprised!"

False perceptions are a perpetual source of angst for Cee-Lo. He constantly feels misunderstood, misjudged and mistreated by the world around him. To some degree he's entitled - I still remember being asked in college who "the fat ugly black dude" was in the Goodie Mob poster on my door. Callaway may not be the classical figure to walk the runway, but if reality TV embraced a show called "America's Most Fashionable Pimp" he and Andre 3000 would have to be the first two picks. His singing voice also resists conventional definitions. Not everyone is immediately left awestruck by his raspy and earnestly sincere delivery. Said critics would probably not be enthusiastic about gospel music and probably aren't too keen on Al Green either. There's an irresistable quality to Cee-Lo's soaring voice that can only be quantified as SOUL. "Blind Mary" knows that soul well - she doesn't have to see him to feel him.

"She's my friend, she doesn't judge me
She has no idea I'm ugly
So I've absolutely nothing to hide
Because I'm so much prettier inside
Yeahhhhhhhh! I love Mary (I love Mary)
Blind Mary, marry me"

The cynical among you are saying that such sappy sentimentalism is ill-suited for the era we live in. Gnarls Barkley is not afraid to embrace a unique perspective by purposefully putting on rose colored glasses to view the world. That doesn't mean that this "Odd Couple" walk happily through a land of bliss; in fact sometimes the tint merely enhances and draws out the darkness of life. "Run (I'm a Natural Disaster)" is a frantic and manic musical attack of panic as Mouse chases rapper and rapper runs in fear of the Mouse:

"Yeah it's still the same, can't you feel the pain?
When the needle hits the vein, ain't nothing like the real thang
I've seen it once before and oh it's something else, good God!
Cool breeze come on in, sunshine come on down
These are the teardrops of a clown, the circus is comin to town
All I'm sayin is sometimes I'm more scared of myself
You better (MOVE!) I said (MOVE!) Ha yeah
(AHH!) Run away (AHH!) Run away
(AHH!) Run children (AHH!) Run for your life
[...]
Either you run right now or you best get ready to die!"

Tormented as he is by the world it's not surprising Cee-Lo takes joy wherever he can find it. Still he finds the need to call on Danger Mouse to make a confession to his "Neighbors" - even behind these tints things just aren't as rosey as they seem. Behold his Curtis Mayfield-esque confession:

"Now my neighbor likes my clothes
But hadn't seen me with my scars exposed
My neighbor!! My neighbor!!
Myyyyy neighbor, ohhh dissatisfied
My neighbor!!
My neighbor's, behavior... is unjustified
I'm sick and tired
[...]
I don't know if he lives all alone
but if you're scared of the darkness
best leave the lights on
I had a talk with my neighbor
Say it simple and plain
I guess he understood me
He never came back again"

The most twisted thing about Gnarls Barkley is that just when you've got their sound figured out they turn over a new leaf that ends up being a whole new forest full of trees. Just within the four songs we've already covered thus far Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse have run the gamut of musical styles like pop, rock, soul and even the blues. Just when you think those blues are going to get Cee-Lo down for good he turns it around on the album's finale and says "I feel better, I can laugh at it now I feel better! Ohh better, and even a little is still better." Say word. I feel better listening to "The Odd Couple," thirteen songs chock full of honest, unabashed, experimental self-expression that isn't afraid to take chances. "Oh can't you see? If I help somebody, baby that's mercy for me" croons Cee-Lo on "Charity Case," and when downloaders and CD buyers are done he'll have a plethora of mercy on his hands. When Mouse and man pose the question "Who's Gonna Save My Soul" the irony is that they are not only their own salvation but that of their listeners too. Even if you don't like "The Odd Couple" the first time it will only get better with every listen. Whether you're a critic or a fan it just doesn't get any better than that.

Music Vibes: 10 of 10 Lyric Vibes: 8 of 10 TOTAL Vibes: 9 of 10

Cover bands have long used their passion to perform the songs their idols once did on the biggest stage. However, a little tavern in Spokane, WA is finding out this may in fact be against the law.

Known as The Flame, this tavern/restaurant has recently been slapped with a lawsuit due to copyright infringement concerning songs that are being performed for night time entertainment. Local attorneys representing the artists involved have asked that the plaintiffs be paid “no more than $30,000 nor less than $750.”

The lawsuit and complaint were released earlier this week in which the attorneys stated, “Neither Defendants, nor any of the Defendants' agents, servants or employees, nor any performer was licensed by, or otherwise received permission from any Plaintiff or any agent, servant or employee of any Plaintiff to give such performances.”

Songs included in the lawsuit are 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” and Ludacris’ “Get Back,” along with other records from various artists.

This lawsuit comes in hindsight of the fact that people representing the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) have sent numerous letters expressing their dissatisfaction with the “cover bands” performing without permission or consent.

However, all of this has come as a surprise to the manager of The Flame. When asked about the lawsuit, he stated, “This is the first that we've heard about this lawsuit. We won't comment on it until we've had a chance to review it.”

T.I. Enters Guilty Plea

It was announced earlier today that T.I. would be switching his plea in his federal weapons case from not guilty to guilty [click here to read].

And now T.I. (real name Clifford Harris, Jr.) has officially entered a plea of guilty to the charges he faced of possessing unregistered machine guns and silencers (two counts), and possessing firearms after having been convicted of a felony (one count) [to learn all the details of the case click here and here].

"While I'm not looking forward to being incarcerated, I have a long road of redemption to travel,"
T.I. said, reading a statement outside the Atlanta federal courthouse. "I am dedicated and committed to that."

The self-proclaimed “King of the South,” will be sentenced on these charges a year from today on March 27, 2009. If he abides by the conditions of his plea agreement he will be sentenced a year from now to one year plus one day in federal prison. He was originally facing a maximum of 10 years in prison and quarter-million dollar fines for each count against him.

Today, T.I. was fined just $100,000.

Per the reported terms of T.I.’s plea agreement he must perform 1,000 hours of community service, which will include speaking to "at-risk young people," promoting respect for law enforcement, opposing violence, illegal and reckless use of firearms, illegal drugs and gang activity.

If T.I. chooses not to complete his community service obligations, U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. could impose a harsher sentence than one year of incarceration, to the tune of 57 months in prison and up to 97 months if the judge determines T.I. has not accepted responsibility for his actions.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the platinum superstar did not make any statements during the hearing, only offering polite "yes" and "no" replies to the judge's questions in addition to admitting to the judge that he was indeed guilty of the charges against him.

Until his sentencing T.I. will remain under monitored home confinement, where he has been since he was released on $3 million bond on October 26th to await trial, and only allowed a reprieve from once to attend church service on Easter Sunday [click here to read].

After T.I.’s change-of-plea hearing today and subsequent sentencing he will still be eligible for a reduced commitment to the court if he fulfills the terms of this agreement and maintains good behavior while incarcerated. Because his sentence is technically longer than one year, he is eligible to earn 15 percent time off for good behavior.

T.I. had reportedly been working on his sixth solo album, Paper Trail, while on home incarceration [click here and here for all of the details on the album]. No word has surfaced yet on the current status of that recording.

The Co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records was also reportedly getting set to executive produce a reality television show surrounding the life of Los Angeles based recording artist Mars [click here for all the details].

T.I.
’s lead attorney, Dwight L. Thomas, could not be reached for comment as of press time regarding today’s proceedings or any of his client’s future plans.

Remy Ma Found Guilty, Faces Up To 25 Years

It seems as if T.I. won't be the only rapper facing jail time in the near future. Today (March 27) 26-year-old Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma (real name Remy Smith) has been convicted on four major charges of the nine she was charged with -- two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon --after a 2007 incident in which she shot a friend of hers in the stomach (non-fatally) after a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy's purse. Remy's failed defense was that the shooting was an accident.

Assistant District Attorney Michael McIntosh said Remy "took an illegal .45-caliber automatic and loaded it with hollow-point bullets," then used both hands to cock the weapon as she got into the car. "She took every step you had to take to shoot somebody," said the prosecutor.

Defense lawyer Ivan Fisher said the gun went off accidentally as the women struggled over the bag.

The victim, former friend Makeda Barnes Joseph, who was shot in the abdomen, testified that she underwent three surgeries during a three-week hospital stay.

Remy was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering, among the nine total charges she faced. Reports are surfacing that as the verdicts were read, the courtroom broke out into madness with the victim's friends and family taunting Remy and making lewd remarks.

Remy could face up from five to 25 years in prison at sentencing. She was led out of a Manhattan courtroom Thursday, weeping and in handcuffs.

Justice Rena Uviller ordered her jailed without bail while awaiting her April 23 sentencing.

50 Cent's New Video Game (Minus Young Buck?)

With the video game industry creating an enormous buzz with the release of Grand Theft Auto 4 this May, 50 Cent is looking to capitalize with his second video game, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

The game will be a follow-up to his 2005 multi-million selling release, Bulletproof, yet the game’s producer claims it will not only be better than the previous offering but that the upcoming game will cover new concepts and storylines.

“Blood on the Sand is something more exotic, more Hollywood blockbuster. This game set’s 50’s character against a cabal of international gangsters on a far-flung, bullet-riddled adventure,” Vivendi Games producer Aaron Blean told MTV News.

Although Blean will play a major role in the game’s development, he credited 50 Cent’s influence and suggestions to make the release novel in its locations and mysterious storyline.

“I would say it’s inspired by ‘Three Kings’ meets ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It’s definitely a crime story,” Blean said.

The producer also hinted at some improved game play features suggested by the G-Unit camp that should help the game to compete against the relatively challenging video game market.

“When 50 was on site at Vivendi with Tony Yayo, one of the things they challenged us to do was introduce new elements of game play in the game. Blood on the Sand will include vehicle missions such as a driver-and-turret-gunner Humvee road chase and a helicopter-borne shootout, in which 50 and his ally ‘rain death from above’ onto enemies,” Blean admitted.

Although the game will look to break video game records and increase the G-Unit fan base, one key feature is lacking with the game’s option to play as Young Buck.

“[T]he second player’s character can be, at last count, one of three members of the G-Unit: Tony Yayo, Whoo Kid or Lloyd Banks, each specializing in different combat techniques,” Blean said in referring to Blood on the Sand’s additional character capabilities.

While details are still emerging, the producer has confirmed that 50 Cent will be making exclusive tracks for the game and that fans should expect to see various 50 brand integration in the game. As of now, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is scheduled to drop for the Xbox 360 and PS3 this fall.

50 Cent Collabs DJ Drama on "Gangsta Grillz" Mixtape

DJ Drama will be the next collaborator in the recent storm of G-Unit mixtapes, as 50 Cent's crew will begin to ready their first Gangsta Grillz mixtape.

"A couple of days after G-Unit dropped their Elephant in the Sand mixtape [two weeks ago], I got the call from 50 [Cent] and he was like, 'Drama, what up? It's time to do this G-Unit/ Aphilliates Gangsta Grillz.' He's really going heavy on the ThisIs50.com Web site, and he was saying basically it's time to get G-Unit hot in the South." said Drama, according to MTV.com. "What better way to do that than to do a Gangsta Grillz? Not only from a South aspect but from a quality street-music aspect. Me and Whoo Kid talked the other day, Fif and G-Unit are getting songs together, [my artists] Willie Da Kid and La Da Darkman are getting some songs together. I reached out to the King and told him it's a special project; I need him to get busy. We're gonna go in."

Drama's "King" that he referred to was none other than T.I. Drama also indicated he would be getting several other southern artists to join in on the project.

"Look out for some skits," added Drama. "Whoo Kid is a jokester. I'mma bring some personality to the table. We're gonna have fun with it. Let the mixtape game come back to life. It's been over a year since the historical RIAA raid, and the mixtape game is still here. That's what we're out to prove. 50 is a monster in the game, I'm a monster in the game. The combination is gonna kill the streets."

"He's still working like he's hungry and putting product out every day," said Drama about 50 Cent, whose crew has put out Sabrina's Baby Boy, Return of the Body Snatchers and Elephant in the Sand in just the past six months. "You can't take it as nothing but motivation."

The G-Unit Gangsta Grillz should be available early to mid-April, and available for free download at ThisIs50.com and GangstaGrillz.com.

N.E.R.D. Discuss New Album

Pharrell Williams and the N.E.R.D. crew are prepping the release of their next LP. As they explained it, much of the album is going to take fans on a trip through various genres and feelings.

"We didn't care about genres; we're not doing this for the money. We're doing this for people who pledge allegiance to our movement," P told MTV.

"It's a mixture of senses that may cause a person to experience colorful hearing, auditory smell," group member Shay added. "For example, you might see something, and it might trigger a song. You might hear something, and it might trigger a taste in your mouth. When we created this album, it was the music we envisioned while creating it. We decided it would be the appropriate title for the album."

"If you really analyze that, the most inspiration is probably deep inside a synesthesiac. So for us, 'seeing sounds' is what we relate to the most. We figured we'd make an album out of it," Pharrell noted.

"Energy and emotion was the criteria [while recording], but we made the music anticipating the [live] show. That was the most important thing. ... [The song] 'Spazz' is [a] nostalgic, hip-hop feeling with some drum and bass. It becomes a big, tall monster. It's almost like this big gorilla looking down at you. If he smacks you, he kills you. His fingers are the size of your body. That's kinda what we're doing in N.E.R.D. We're facing this big monster of, of what we know is out there, of what we see, that big monster of energy."

Starting in mid-April, the N.E.R.D. crew will join Kanye West on the Glow in the Dark Tour. While their single, "Everyone Nose" (a song about cocaine), will be released soon, their album, Seeing Sounds, will be released in June.

Disturbing Tha Peace Entertainment, Inc., a recording label and entertainment company founded by Grammy award winning Hip Hop artist Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges, and MegaMobile TV, LLC, a multi-platform content studio creating formats for online, TV and mobile founded by television veteran Matthew Apfel, announced today that they have entered into a joint venture to form WeMix.com.

WeMix.com is an online community of unsigned singers, rappers, songwriters, musicians and producers. The site has all the tools to help users create music, collaborate digitally with fellow artists worldwide and, in cases, earn a chance to create new music by collaborating directly with top musical stars such as Ludacris.

Slated to launch late April 2008, WeMix.com to date has attracted over 20,000 actively participating artists, musicians and producers while currently in preview mode.

Users who join WeMix.com create their own page and have the ability to submit their original songs, riffs and melodies. The WeMix community then votes for favorite songs and artists, thereby organically discovering new music at a grass-roots level. Top performers on the site, if chosen, have the chance to collaborate with Ludacris and a host of other stars to transform their song into a hit record – with the entire process captured as part of a series for web and television. All artists who join the WeMix community become part of this first-of-a-kind user-generated record label. In addition, the WeMix.com site will sponsor music-oriented contests with prizes for top songs, rhymes, ringtones, lyrics and jingles.

Artists who join the WeMix.com community and upload their creations have the potential to sell their work directly to the consumer, and to collaborate digitally with fellow artists around the world. Top-rated performers become eligible to bypass the traditional A&R process and collaborate directly with Ludacris and other top music stars, thereby creating an entirely new way to launch a career.

In addition, WeMix’s platform extends beyond the recording and publishing business into numerous additional revenue streams which include a reality series for online, TV, multiple online advertising opportunities, merchandise sales and SMS collaboration.

Update: Diddy Settles Assault Lawsuit Out Of Court

Sean "Diddy" Combs has settled a lawsuit with the man who accused the music mogul of punching him at an Oscar party in 2007.

As SOHH previously reported, Diddy was investigated for allegedly assaulting Gerard Rechnitzer after the real estate agent filed a suit last year. Rechnitzer claimed Diddy swung at him after him and his fiancé were leaving a party at Teddy's inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

Rechnitzer claimed the altercation started after Diddy tried to invite his girlfriend to a private party. Combs was cleared of criminal charges in July, but Rechnitzer filed a civil suit last March.

The real estate agent alleged that along with punching him in the jaw, Diddy also pushed his fiance and tried to spit on another woman in the parking lot. Rechnitzer alleges Diddy then tried to intimidate him, hanging out of a car window as he rode off, starring him down.

In court, Diddy maintained his innocence, saying in a document that the plaintiff lunged at him and "any contact ...was caused by his forward motion against my open hand."

Now, according to a document filed with a Los Angeles court by Diddy's lawyers on Friday (Mar. 21), the case has been settled out of court. The terms of the agreement have not been released.

The Game Ready To Stir Up Controversy W/ New Album

Compton MC The Game is set to drop his third, and presumably his last, solo LP this summer entitled Los Angeles Times.

The rapper, who was recently released from a L.A. Correctional Facility for an assault charge, said that he immediately jumped back into the studio to record fresh material.

"Upon my release I went directly to the studio with producers Cool & Dre and recorded several records including my street record 'Big Dreams,'" he said. "Thank you to all my fans as well for the support."

The rapper announced that he would be releasing his third LP in June at a performance this past Saturday (March 22) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

"I have a highly controversial album coming this summer," states The Game, "and not the typical controversy you are used to in rap. On LAX I'm addressing real issues that other artists might be scared to talk about on record; issues that need to be heard."

According to Game, this may be the last opportunity to hear the rapper address these, or any other issues. In an interview with QD3.com The Game joined the ranks of rappers who have announced a final disc.

"Last album," the rapper said. "Yep ready to go. I think three classic albums is enough to get my point across."

Los Angeles Times is scheduled to hit stores on June 24 via Geffen Records.

Lil Wayne - Done It

Grammy nominated rapper Remy Ma was back in Manhattan Criminal Court today (Mar. 24) for the closing arguments in her assault trial.

According to the Associated Press, the Bronx rapper's attorney, Ivan Fisher, told jurors in his closing statements that the prosecution did not prove that the shooting was anything more than an accident and that the victim agrees.

As SOHH previously reported Remy Ma is accused of shooting former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in Manhattan's Meatpacking district last July.

Though a witness came forward and testified that he saw Remy cock the gun before entering Barnes-Joseph's car, Fisher says it was an accident.

Now, it's the victim's own testimony that the defense is citing as proof of Remy's innocence. According to Fisher, Barnes-Joseph admitted on the stand that the gun went off during a struggle over a handbag. He said there's no evidence that the shooting was more than a mishap.

The shooting allegedly took place after Remy discovered $3,000 missing from her purse, and accused Barnes-Joseph of taking it, demanding that she empty out the contents of her bag.

The prosecution is expected to give its summations later today.

Remy is charged with first-degree assault and other charges related to the shooting. Currently free on $250,000 bail, she faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

Stay tuned to SOHH as the trial develops.

Fabolous Talks New Concept Album, Britney Collab

The paint hasn't even dried on his last album or his latest mixtape [click here to listen...], but Fabolous is ready to embark on a new project. With a theme behind his next album, some plans to release a film-inspired joint, and some Jay-Z inspiration, Fab is ready to hit the booth.

"I usually go around and just get with producers I feel I wanted to work with. This time I'm going off a theme," he told MTV. "I'ma put a theme together and just go off of that theme. Sometimes producers get lost trying to figure out what they think is the best type of shit for Fab. [They say,] 'I got this commercial joint for you.' So what I'm doing now, I seen a movie I want to theme the album after. Even take certain lines, different scenes out of the movie and make music behind that. At the same time, I can have the producer check the movie out, and he'll have something he can take away from the movie and come back with some joints. I wanted to try that this time."

"What Jay-Z did [with American Gangster], he took that Frank Lucas character and put it in the frame of his Jay character. That's what I wanna do. I don't wanna say I that I'm actually the character, but take some of his scenarios or some things I went through and tell it in my tone."

DJ Toomp, Kanye West, Just Blaze and Polow Da Don are only a few of the producers Fab wants to take part in the album.

"I think it will make me a little faster for some reason... When I just go in with producer and just make music, I'm really going in. I don't know what they are gonna play me. I don't know what I'm gonna get off the beat. It's pretty much whatever comes up. But this time I watched the movie myself, wrote some things that stuck out in my head and tried to make songs off that. This time it should be easier. Well, not easier, but faster."

In between-time, Fab is also collaborating with many singers, including Britney Spears and Ne-Yo. "I didn't get to kick it with [Britney], but the people from her record label was on top of that...I don't know what condition Britney is in right now. Hopefully — more power to her — she'll get in a better space and position. Somebody needs to sit her down, let her know what the deal is," he said of the Pop paparazzi queen.

He also added that working with Ne-Yo gave him another Jay-Z inspired theme.

"I been telling him we need to do the Best of Both Worlds for young, fly niggas. I don't think [a clash of the egos] would happen with us. [We're] two good, humble brothers. If we make some great music, people would love it and the demographic we would hit ... It would be great for us too. I think we can pull off a Best of Both Worlds."

No word yet as to what movie his album will be based on or when the LP is set to be released.

Suge Knight's Reality Show Gets Trailer

The most feared man in Hip Hop, Marion "Suge" Knight has been touting a reality show in development since late 2004. Although no networks have officially backed the uncut look at the Death Row Records co-founder and notorious executive, what appears to be an official trailer surfaced over this past holiday weekend.

The show appears to follow Knight in search of talent for his dwindling imprint. With a series of challenges, not unlike Diddy's Making The Band hit series on MTV, Knight and cohorts drill potential artists throughout Compton, Inglewood, Las Vegas and elsewhere on their merits to be down with the label that was deemed "untouchable" in 1996.

In recent years, both Death Row and Suge Knight have been skewered with controversy and financial shortcomings. The label filed for bankruptcy in 2006, since making the label's holdings under the control of a court-appointed board since. Besides 2004's Against Tha Grain by Kurupt, the label has ceased to release new, official material by a living artist with the label since 1998.

Although artists to the likes of Ray J, Petey Pablo and Juvenile have been claimed to be signed to the label in recent years, the last official artist confirmed with the label is Queens' Lakey Da Kid, who was deemed in 2005 to be the flagship artist of Death Row East, during the label's distribution deal with Koch Records.

There is no word as to where the reality show will air, or when. HipHopDX will keep you posted.

Bobby Creek Talks Upcoming LP, Shady Records, Eminem

After appearing on several tracks on Shady Records' mixtape/album The Re-Up over a year ago, Bobby Creek has been seldom heard from. Recently, the Atlanta native with HipHopDX at the A3C festival to discuss his current situation at Shady Records:

“Everything’s beautiful, man. Em’s working on his next project, and everybody’s getting’ geared up for that. So everything’s beautiful.” Creek continued, “I’ll say this…everybody over at that label takes music seriously. They’re perfectionists, and they understand that first impressions are everything. If our projects take a little longer than people would like, just know that we’re making impactful [sic] music so we can make the impression we need to make. The music is going to be worth it for the fans – the wait will be worth it.”

The rapper spoke on his upcoming projects as well. “I’m working on A Brilliant Mistake, Em is working on his LP, and we’re having talks about possibly doing a ‘Re-Up 2.’ My mixtape series Anthem 2 Da Streetz…volume 3 [is] coming out soon, sooner than everything else. Shady Records, we got a lot comin’. I can’t speak on everything because I don’t want to spoil the movie for ya’ll – this is a motion picture. There’s a lot to look forward to. D12, they’re working. Obie [Trice], he’s working. We’re all working.” As for a release date for his album, Creek offered only that the label is "pushing for a...fall release."

Finally, Bobby Creek addressed rumors about label head Eminem's supposed massive weight gain. “[There] must be two [Eminems], because the Em I just saw is in perfectly good shape. [I] saw him recently playing a pickup basketball game, so I don’t know much about the 250-pound Em; I missed that, I didn’t see that guy. No truth to those rumors whatsoever.”
“He’s focused, basically," said Creek of Eminem. "He understands he’s been away for a while, and that he’s got to come back that much harder. He’s focused – 110 percent. Y’all should expect that; he’s been away for a while, and he’s got a statement to make.”

Diddy's male R&B group, Day26, is preparing to drop their debut album on Tuesday (March 25th). In this SOHH exclusive, we talk to the Bad Boys about the video for their first single, "Got Me Going", the group name and how they're coming to take over the game.

During the start of the second season of Making The Band 4, Diddy announced the name of his newly formed male R&B group. The group, which is comprised of Brian, Big Mike, Que, Robert, and Willie is called Day26, a name which they are quite fond of.

"We love it," Willie exclaims. "We came up with the name. Day26, nobody is gonna understand it off the bat but the people that really follow us, know that our finale was on August 26th."

"We had a little contest on MTV.com so people can log in and put in names and try to come up with our name," Robert says. "The list went on and on and on from 'Diddy's Boys'..."

"They wanted to name us 'Bad Boy,'" Que interrupts.

The guys whittled down a list of names, sifting through the "good names, bad names, funny names, [and] stupid names," and ended up with the perfect one. "We wanted a name that meant something to us," says Willie. "Really, what better name could describe us than the day that changed all of our lives?"

Day26 recently released the video for the first single, "Got Me Going." "The song is hot. The video is hot. The concept it hot. It's not your regular R&B video," says Brian. "We're all really excited about it. I can honestly say we're all like five little Denzels."

"We got to showcase a lot of things that people might not think we have seeing that we was put together on a reality TV show," says Robert. "We got to showcase all our talent vocally. We got to showcase all our dance moves and let the world know that we aint stiff up on the stage and we do got the dancin' on point. So ya'll watch out, we are a triple threat and we coming through.

Day26's self -titled debut album hits stores this Tuesday.

Video Lil Jon’s The P***y Patch ! Comedy Sketch

Lil’ Jon helps Eliot Spitzer overcome his addiction.

It's been less than a year since his debut album dropped but Plies is already planning to release his sophomore album this June. In this SOHH exclusive, the Florida born rapper talks about his new album, Definition of Real, his upcoming reality show and his new clothing line.

As SOHH previously reported, Plies is preparing to release his sophomore album, on June 10th, just ten months after dropping his debut.

"To be able to turn around two albums in a ten month frame, first and foremost I do understand how much of a blessing it is to have such success on The Real Testament," he says. "To have a certified gold album in this climate definitely speaks volumes."

Plies is planning to repeat the success of his first album by following the same format of keeping costs down.

"I always like to keep my overhead low," he says "I don't want to be in a situation where I'm spending $2 million on a project."

Instead of paying high prices for beats from big name producers, Plies prefers to rely on production from his brother's company, The World Music Group.

"We got a lot of good producers under our umbrella," he says. "At the end of the day if you're not careful you can go through this business coming out with great records, great albums and walk away with nothing to show. So, I'm just trying to tighten up my business side of it."

Plies also decided to go easy on the guest appearances. He didn't have any other rappers on his first album and he won't have any on this one.

"I kept it simple," he says. "It's all me on this album but I was able to work with a Ne-Yo who gave me that good radio side, that radio look."

The Florida rapper understands the importance of a strong, radio friendly first single. On his first album, he found success with the T-Pain laced, "Shawty," which topped the US hip-hop charts and sold over one million ringtones.

In addition to his sophomore album, Plies has a female clothing line and a reality dating show in the works based on his two-part single, entitled "Bust It Baby."

"The definition of a 'Bust It Baby' for me is the best female sexual experience," he explains

The footage of his "Bust It Baby" casting call racked up over 200,000 plays on YouTube and has sparked a bidding war between three major television networks. His "Bust It Baby" clothing line is 95% done and is comprised of "sexy" items like short shorts and spandex.

Ludacris Disturbs The Internet W/ New Website

Ludacris has decided to reach back with a new website, catering to the needs of unsigned artists and producers from all musical genres.

Luda's Disturbing Tha Peace Entertainment has joined forces with MegaMobile TV, LLC, a multimedia company, to create WeMix.com, a music community and user-generated record label that allows unsigned singers, rappers, songwriters, producers and musicians of all types to get discovered.

The site will features online tools that will allow users to create music and digitally collaborate with other artists, even Ludacris himself.

WeMix, which will officially launch next month, has already attracted over 20,000 aspiring artists while the site is in preview mode.

"There's so much talent that never sees the light of day because of the traditional way we discover artists; I felt it was time to take music back where it belongs - in the streets and with the people," Ludacris said via statement.

"It doesn't matter what type of music you're into, at WeMix.com it's an open playing field," he continued. "We want to hear everything that's out there and let the people guide us in deciding which new artists get their shot to collaborate with stars and record a song. Even if you can't sing or play an instrument, WeMix.com gives you the chance to make music and influence decisions through voting and reviews. It truly is the people's record company."

Artists will also have the opportunity to sell their music directly to consumers, connecting them with their potential fans. The site also has other arms of operation in the works including an online reality TV show and merchandise sales.

Potential artists and fans can preview the site by logging onto WeMix.com, with the official launch slated for late April.

In preparation for their April 29th release Rising Down, The Roots have scheduled a tour that will be hitting the east coast and some Midwest states.

Most of the venues being played feature universities and colleges, a move not normal by well-known artists. However, it seems as though The Roots have planned this well through the direction of their album. ?uestlove recently stated, “This is probably our most political album to date dealing with addiction, nihilism, hypocritical double standards in the prison system and overall life in Philadelphia. I'd say it’s more mature and intense than all of our efforts but not a ‘downer’ as most people expect us to do.

Seeing as how this intellect favors the college crowd, it looks like a smooth move by the Philly natives.

The first list of tour dates are confirmed, whereas the second list of dates was released days earlier but currently is unconfirmed.

Colby O'Donis "What You Got" Featuring Akon

Nice song by Colby O'Donis. He is signed to Akon's label Konvict Muzic and should be on your T.V. very soon. Also, be on the lookout for his debut album.

New York rapper Lil' Mama is breaking ground with her second single "Shawty Get Loose," finally giving her debut album a release date.

The teenage rapper's most recent single, features teen sensation Chris Brown and R&B crooner, T-Pain. According to Billboard, the single moved from position 92 to 19 on the Hot 100, garnering the biggest gain on Billboard's tally this year.

"Shawty Get Loose" is a follow up to her No. 10 Hot 100 smash single, "Lip Gloss."

Lil' Mama may owe some of the success of her recent single to her appearance as a judge on the MTV show "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew," since the show's commercials feature her hit.

Though work is still underway on the album, VYP - Voice of the Young People, it is expected to feature production from Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, and Cool and Dre, among others.

VYP -- Voice of the Young People drops on April 29th via Jive Records.

In related news, Lil' Mama will hit the road with Soulja Boy for the "21 and Under Tour" this spring. The tour will kick off on April 11th at House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC and hit 23 cities across the US before ending on May 11th at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA.

Album Review: Rocko - Self Made

A common misconception divides many of today’s Hip Hop fans. On one side of the aisle, there are those who believe that an artist has to be positive in order to be dope; the other side believing that big words and catchy metaphors about the lifestyles of the rich and famous make for a dope MC. The answer lies somewhere in the middle. All “positive” or “conscious” MCs are dope and all the dope boys aren’t whack. There are plenty of MCs on both sides of the spectrum that are great and others that are great and being terrible.

Unfortunately for Island Def Jam, there newest find, Rocko, falls in the latter category. To say that his major label debut, Self Made is an abomination is an insult to the word “abomination”. Backed by the radio friendly “Umma Do Me,” Rocko proceeds to tell the world what separates him from a number of unnamed persons. Granted, “You make it sprinkle/I make it tsunami/You get chump change/But I get money” aren’t going to fly in the ciphers, there’s still a standard of lyricism that should go into crafting certified “club songs.” In addition, “Umma Do Me”—from the delivery to the adlibs—sounds like a Young Jeezy throwaway. If swagger jacking was a crime, Rocko would get the death penalty.

Self Made boast production from many of the game’s current A-listers, including Cool and Dre, Jazze Pha, and DJ Toomp. In spite of the heavy hitters behind the boards, Rocko’s lyrical ineptness is impossible to ignore. The radio friendly “Busy” will be enough to replace “hustling” or “grinding” as the streets new buzz word for having a lot of shit to do. “I be busy in the trap, I be busy moving packs/I be busy handling business, I ain’t got time for all of that,” he raps. The song will without a doubt resonate with people who don’t know any better, while the more critically minded among the pack will be left wondering—or hoping— that the authorities will, for a moment forget about the First Amendment and start arresting rappers who assault the public with recycled rhymes about moving more keys than Frank Lucas.

From here, the album free falls into the abyss of all things cliché. There’s the requisite R&B singer singing about thugging track (“Hustle Fo” feat. Lloyd), the all the ladies want my guap song (“That’s My Money”), and the ghetto love hymnal (the Monica assisted “Thugs Need Love Too”). “Karma”—a tale of the pitfalls of betrayal—offers a glimmer of hope, but is not nearly enough to save this one from the round file, a computer recycle bin or from being tossed out of car windows across America.

To be fair, Rocko is another label head turned rapper, so some might give him a pass for his selection of beats. However, the rap game doesn’t have an affirmative action program for its artists and each must—or should— get on based on actual skill. The blame for Self Made rests squarely on the shoulders of label heads looking to capitalize on the latest trend and entourage yes men afraid to tell the folks signing the checks to leave the rapping to real rappers.

Jay-Z Wants ''Way Too Much'' For Carter Music Label

Now that he's no longer with Def Jam, Jay-Z has been shopping his own Carter Music Group around for a home. But inside reports say that he is asking for more than his upstart label is worth.

According to the New York Post, the music mogul is asking "way too much" for the imprint, an insider told Page 6. "He wants a label to give him $100 million for the Carter Music Group and provide for overhead, development and digital investment. It's crazy. He wants the labels to basically be his venture capital fund - but unlike a venture cap, they won't get 50 percent. This is not the '90s anymore."

As SOHH previously reported, Jay-Z stepped down from his post at Def Jam over a money dispute in December of last year when he and Island Def Jam chief L.A. Reid couldn't come to a salary agreement.

When news of Jay starting his own label first hit, it was said that it would be under Warner Music Group. According to Def Jam, the company was never interested in housing the Carter Music Group.

"Starting a record label from scratch is very difficult. If Warner Music wants to do it, better them than us," a Def Jam exec said last month.

But Jay's new venture remains without a home.

As SOHH previously reported, Hov may also be in talks with Apple Inc. There has been ongoing speculation on a possible union between the hip-hop mogul and the tech giant for the purpose of a new label.

T.I. Free, Judge Grants Release For Easter

T.I. was unable to host Thanksgiving at his home in Atlanta, but he will be allowed to leave the premises to celebrate Easter.

As SOHH previously reported, T.I. withdrew a court request in November to host Thanksgiving at his home after it was met with strong opposition from prosecutors.

The rapper, born Clifford Harris, is on house arrest awaiting trial for a federal weapons case.

On Thursday (March 20th) a federal judge ruled that T.I. is allowed to be away from home 8:30 AM to 2 PM on Sunday in order to attend a service sponsored by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

According to the Associated Pres, T.I. must be accompanied during his church visit by one of his attorneys as well as a court-appointed monitor.

The church service was originally scheduled to be held in the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta, however due to tornado damage at the dome it may now be held at the church's location in Lithonia.

T.I. was arrested in October 2007 in an Atlanta shopping center by federal authorities after allegedly attempting to buy three machine guns and two silencers.

Redman & Method Man Reunite For "Blackout 2" Album

Method Man and Redman are back in the studio together after nearly 10 years, recording a new collabo project Blackout 2, which will be the follow-up to the duo's platinum selling disc Blackout!

The two rappers' chemistry has already scored them co-starring roles in the flick How High an endorsement deal for Right Guard deodorant and their own short-lived Fox sitcom, "Method & Red."

Now they're back at it in the studio.

"A lot of good music comin' out this year," Redman told sitdownstandup.com. "You're especially gonna hear from us, finally."

The album features production by Gilla House, E-Sermon and Rocwilder and there may even be a DJ Premier track or two before recording wraps.

"Preemo, we need some heat baby!" Red shouted. "We need some heat right now baby!" "Treach need to be on this sh*t, too."

In addition to Meth and Red's collabo, the two are sharing a mic with almost 70 other emcees for a 2008 regeneration of KRS-One's new Stop the Violence Movement.

Along with Meth and Red, David Banner, Chamillionaire, Nelly, Busta, and Ne-Yo are among the artists putting a new spin on the 1989 inspirational rap song "Self Destruction" called "Self Construction."

"Anything positive is always good for the hip-hop community," Redman said. "I remember when the first 'Self Destruction' came out, that sh*t was hot. I wasn't in the game to get on it but now I'm in the game, so why not be a part of history?"

The first version was recorded by the Stop the Violence All-Stars, an East Coast collective including KRS, Whodini, Miss Melody, MC Lyte, D-Nyce, Doug E Fresh, Heavy D, Public Enemy and others.

Blackout 2 is expected to hit shelves this summer and Muddy Waters 2 will drop at the top of '09.

Rick Ross Talks #1 Spot, Possibilities For Next Single

Rick Ross is living up to the title of his hit single “The Boss,” as the Miami rapper’s new album sophomore disc landed at Billboard’s #1 spot in its first week.

The Soundscan totals, according to MTV, show that Trilla pushed more than 198,000 units. His first album, 2006’s Port of Miami, sold 187,000 copies.

“I'm just trying to get ahead and make bigger moves,” Ross said in an interview with MTV. “It's that movement. The industry is still there. That's what that shows."

Ross outsold Snoop Dogg’s Ego Trippin’ and Fat Joe’s Elephant In The Room. While Ego Trippin’ debuted at #3 on the charts, its 137,000 copies sold is the lowest first week sales total amongst the rest of Snoop's studio albums. Elephant sold 46,000 copies, landing in the chart’s #6 spot.

Ross said that possibilities for the next single include “Luxury Tax” (which features Lil Wayne, Trick Daddy and Young Jeezy), the Jay-Z-assisted “Maybach Music,” or “All I Have In This World,” which features Mannie Fresh.

"You know, we got multiple choices right here," he boasted. "I think it's a decision we're gonna make within the next week. I'm just in the clubs touching the people in the streets. These are the people I make the music for, and I'm just seeing what they are absorbing."

No Royalites For Young Buck

Although rumors of an alleged reunion with former G-Unit member The Game, a return to Cash Money Records and a perceived failure to participate in a few rivalries have caused his loyalty to be questioned, Young Buck has maintained several times that he is loyal to G-Unit. It appears that the loyalty may not be returned on the financial front. In a recent interview with yoraps.com, the Nashville rapper reveals that while touring with G-Unit is lucrative, he has never received a royalty check from Interscope or G-Unit.

"I'm the only artist on G-Unit that ever recouped off of an album, meaning I went off on this Buck The World project not owing Interscope and G-Unit shit," Buck explains. "I can say that much. I'm still waiting on a royalty check, period. I've never seen a royalty check since I've been signed with G-Unit. So, hell yeah, I'll tell you one damn thing, the show money is that good. I've never in my career cashed a royalty check. How you like that?"

The amounts G-Unit and Interscope spent on promoting both Straight Outta Cashville and Buck The World have not been made public. However, during a February interview with HipHopDX, Buck did admit he wasn't thrilled with the amount spent marketing and promoting his projects.

"I did feel there were a few things Interscope could've done [better] as far as marketing my project," adds Buck. "You know, getting me a little better of a budget as far as videos and stuff."

Straight Outta Cashville was certified by the RIAA as having over 1 million copies sold as of January of 2005. Buck also tells HipHopDX that, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Buck The World has sold over 500,000 copies since its release. Additionally, the G-unit album Beg For Mercy, which Young Buck contributed to, has certified sales of over 2 million copies. Representatives from both G-Unit and Interscope have yet to respond to the claims.

G-Unit's second album, Shoot To Kill, was pushed back after the disc was originally scheduled to drop on Dec. 18 last year. No set date for the album has been release.

Eminem "Scared" To Record With Lil Wayne?

In a recent interview with DJ Semtex, Lil Wayne was asked who he would like to work with but has yet to. After Weezy responded with unrealistic collaborations with the likes of Elvis and Sammy Davis Jr, he went on to discuss a more feasible collaboration that has yet to happen.

“I’ve never done a song with Eminem,” Wayne says. “I sent him a song and he ain’t do it. I didn’t like that but it’s all good. People be busy and stuff or a.k.a. just scared to get on a song with me.”

Wayne also discusses Kanye West’s contributions to The Carter III. It has been widely known that Kanye and Weezy were working together on the album but many are curious as to what extent West is featured.

“The first time, Kanye came and brought me 5 joints. The next time he came and gave me a CD with 15 joints on it. I had to tell him, hold on, please stop,” Weezy jokes. “On the album Kanye has a good three (songs) but in the files he has about twenty.”

Semtex then asks Wayne about his partying lifestyle and addresses the late Pimp C and his usage of syrup. He mentions that many of his fans are worried about him and his lifestyle.

“Well first off I don’t party hard because if I did, then I wouldn’t be able to produce the great music that I do,” he explains. “Second of all, I don’t party hard because if I did I wouldn’t be able to produce the amount of music that I do. Third of all, I don’t party hard because if I did my music wouldn’t be of quality. Fourth, sizzurp is a downer. It’s codeine that makes you tired. So you don’t want to party, you want sizzurp.”

“Fifth, I’m me and I do what the fuck I want to do and I’m going to keep doing what the fuck I want to do. And if syrup is what the fuck I want to do *shakes cup of syrup and takes a sip*, I’m gonna do it until I can’t do it no more,” Wayne continues. “And if you are worrying about me, I promise to God I appreciate it but keep your worries and worry about more important things like yourself. I swear I get on my knees every night and day. I’m fine. So if you’re worrying about me you are wasting your time because my God got me whether he takes me today or next year or never, I’m good.”

Busta Rhymes Given Probation In Assault Case

Busta Rhymes was sentenced to three years' probation, 10 days of community service and a $1,250 fine for a series of 2007 arrests for assault and driving while intoxicated. If convicted, Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, could have faced up to one year of jail time for each offense. The 35-year-old rapper and actor was initially arrested in May of 2007 for failing a Breathalyzer test after police stopped him because the tint on the windows of his vehicle was too dark. Another arrest came in August for assaulting a man that spit on his car, and it was followed by a December arrest for kicking and striking his former driver during a dispute.

According to the Associated Press, Judge Larry Stephen of Manhattan Criminal Court was lenient with his sentencing, but also issued a warning. "If you mess up, you're going to jail," Stephen said. "I've given you a chance." Busta said he would have no trouble following the terms of his probation, which also include enrollment in a program for drunken drivers.

"I couldn't feel better, and this couldn't have happened at a better time," said Busta Rhymes. "I thank the judge for giving me a chance, and I thank everybody for being supportive." Busta also said he wanted to get back to "having fun, making music, running around and showing love." Although there is still no official release date for his sophomore effort on Aftermath, tentatively titled Back On My B.S., the veteran rapper has recently released the single "Lights, Camera, Action," which you can listen to by clicking here.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 3/16/08

Hip Hop returned to the charts this week, in a major way. In the trifecta of releases from Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross, it was the youngest, and southern representative that took the coveted #1 spot. Just under the two-hundred thousand mark, Ross' Trilla is the best first week selling rap album of 2008. Not far behind, Snoop Dogg also fared well in an impressive first week - can Ego Trippin' crack the platinum status in the US that The Blue Carpet Treatment fell just a tad short of?

Of the three, the independent delegate, Fat Joe cracked the Top Ten with a #6 position, selling just under 50,000 units. Will 50 Cent's recent prophecy to XXL hold true that Joe Crack will fail to reach 100,000 on Elephant in the Room be true?

Surprisingly, it was Mary J Blige and Alicia Keys who gave up Top Ten seats to Janet Jackson and Erykah Badu. As commercial urban radio isn't playing Badu's single "Honey," will the adult contemporary market sustain the eclectic R&B veteran?

Will the Florida love hold for another strong week from Rick Ross? Or will fellow Poe Boy Entertainment artist Flo Rida challenge the charts with his debut? Can Sheek match the independent intensity that put Fat Joe in the Top 10, or will he follow Styles' trend in late-2007? As Lupe goes for gold, Freeway and Ghostface Killah are dangerously close to cracking 100,000 with their Def Jam releases. Stay tuned to HipHopDX to see how March melts down.

Flo Rida Mail On Sunday Album Review

Flo Rida first arrived on the scene last summer on the DJ Khaled track "Bitch I'm From Dade County." To be honest about it I ignored his vocal performance entirely. When you're sharing a Diaz Brothers with the likes of Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Trina it's not like you're getting the top spot on the cut. Then again Brisco was on this track too and has blown up since then with "In the Hood" so perhaps it's worthwhile to give Flo Rida another chance. After all he's already dropped two hot singles off "Mail On Sunday" before the album even hit stores - the first of which is "Low" featuring T-Pain.

"I ain't never seen nothin that'll make me go
this crazy all night spendin my dough
Had a million dollar vibe and a bottle to go
Them birthday cakes, they stole the show
So sexual, she was flex-able
Pro-fessional, drinkin X and oh
Hoooold up, wait a minute, do I see
what I think I - WHOA
Did I thank I see shawty get LOW
Ain't the same when it's up that CLOSE
Make it rain, I'm makin it snow
Work the pole, I got the bank ROLL
I'ma say that I prefer them no clothes
I'm into that, I love women exposed
She threw it back at me, I gave her mo'
Cash ain't no problem, I know where it goes"

DJ Montay did a decent job with the track, and usually these days when you put T-Pain on the hook you get a top ten single - "Low" was no exception. For my money though "Elevator" is the hotter single. Timbaland is one of the few producers who should talk on a track, let alone sing, and on Flo Rida's cut he takes the time to do both. "Got you stuck, on my elevator, get it up!" Hell yeah. Some hardcore heads may object to how radio friendly this song is, but in doing so they're missing out on how expertly Timbaland weaves together multiple layers of horns, electronic noises, drums, melody and bass. While this song did not convince me Flo Rida is worth being dubbed the next big thing as a lyricist, the speedy & musically half-monotone flow he displays on this song matches perfectly with Timbaland's beat.

"My first flo' stuck on a golddiggin woman
Money cash flow all big face honies
Huntin on the pole got them D-boys runnin
Shorty got both broke, can't see what's comin
Wear them apple bottoms, wear them apple bottoms honey
Dolce and Gabbana and she get up on my money
Louis bag kit, Gucci, Fendi and Armani
See the karats on her wrist, now she pimp Bugs Bunny
Used to date Kanye, now she want me
And while I got the juice, wanna take my OJ"

Any album you can get at least two worthwhile singles from has something going for it, and "Mail On Sunday" has a few future potential bangers as well. The Jonathan 'J.R.' Rotem produced "Ms. Hangover" is tailor-made for pop appeal, complete with Flo Rida offering a sing-song delivery. "In the Ayer" has a will.i.am beat and Fergie cameo to make you shake and break on the dancefloor, even though the catchphrase on the hook is a little bit absurd. Flo Rida carefully tries to balance all the elements on this album and offer something to everyone - he's got Zapp vocoder style quiet storm on "Me & U" and thugged out Floridian hip-hop tag teaming with Yung Joc on the Drumma Boy produced "Don't Know How to Act."

It's a little strange to complain about a well produced album that's not unpleasant to listen to, but it's the very fact that Flo Rida is trying so hard to please so many audiences that hurts this CD. Flo Rida is so new on the hip-hop scene that he would be well served to develop an identity, yet he seems as malleable as a ball of wet clay throughout "Mail On Sunday." I suspect Flo Rida could probably do an underground backpacker rap if you paired him with Alchemist, then turn around and give you a crunk ass track working with DJ Paul and Juicy J. When you try to come up with positive comparisons to other artists, you realize just how derivative Flo Rida is. He's a little bit Twista, a little bit Trick Daddy, and a whole lot Nelly. None of those things are negative, but the fact he can't distinguish himself from any of them isn't a positive. I'd like to see Flo Rida convince me why he's special with his next album - until then he's just another MC with a well produced album who came out of a cookie cutter hitmaking mold.

Game Joins Fat Joe/50 Cent/Papoose Beef Triangle

If you’ve heard the new street single “Big Dreams” from The Game already [click to listen], it’s apparent that his distaste for 50 Cent is still evident.

This was reiterated the past weekend when Fat Joe stopped by Baltimore’s 92Q Jam’s radio station to promote his new album, Elephant In The Room. An inordinate amount of people called in, including a few hip-hop artists, but none of the phone calls was more striking than Game’s.

He repeated a line from “Big Dreams” and stated, “I’m Curtis kryptonite,” sending Fat Joe into an ecstatic frenzy. Game then went on to say “Ayo Crack, I got your back. Soon as I got home I see you sitting on the couch on 106 & Park talking crazy. I’m like yo Joe is my man, I’m going in with my man.”

As we have seen before, Game and 50 Cent have been butting heads since the G-Unit split, but if there was any time for Game to gain an upper hand, it would be now.

Whether or not this means a collaboration between Fat Joe and The Game for his upcoming L.A.X. album is coming, we shall see. Stay tuned.

Sheek Louch Says J-Hood Can't Come Back

Sheek Louch's third solo release, Silverback Gorilla, hit shelves today (Mar.18). SOHH caught up with the D-Block front man and chatted him up about his new project, beef with Mobb Deep and his real feelings about J-Hood.

"It ain't nothing," Sheek said of rap group Mobb Deep. "They good dudes. I like Havoc.

Prodigy dissed Sheek in his blog, listing rappers he respected and then calling Sheek "one of the worst ever."

"I know about all the comments Prodigy made about all the rappers, I still like him."

Former D-Block member J-Hood on the other hand..."He's a little clown acting like a little young boy would, just real unappreciative," Sheek told SOHH.

The rapper said he thinks J-Hood set his sights on beef with him because he needed someone to blame for his career not really taking off.

"Somebody gotta be the bad guy," Sheek said. "I took his money, I came in the studio and slapped him, I did this and that ... None of it's true."

And though Sheek did admit he thinks J-Hood has talent, he said there's no place for the former group-mate on a record with himself, D-Block or The Lox, ever.

"It's over," Sheek said. "He can't come back to me, he can't come back to D-Block, The Lox, nothing. Nobody wants to deal with him. They just don't respect his moves."

"I've known him since he was a young boy and when we hear him talking about bustin guns, us back at home, we like, 'aw, c'mon man, when did he resort to that?'" Sheek continued. "It's like, say you got a little brother or sister at home and they start actin' tough. Like now they murderers."

Louch said he, Styles P and Jadakiss gave J-Hood a chance in the industry and he's ungrateful.

"Dealin' with us three, he skipped a lot of stuff that a lot of artists go through," Sheek said. "We had him doing major interviews and major deals. Its people on the grind and been grinding longer than him. Somebody might say he ain't even have no grind."

But Louch said his grind is non stop.

His new album Silverback Gorilla has 18 tracks and every one of them the rapper said is fire.

"The concepts? Lyrically? Forget it," Sheek said. "I'm on a whole other level with this joint."

Fat Joe, Jim Jones, Hell Rell, Bun B, DJ Unk, The Game, up and coming D-Block artist Bully, and of course Styles P and Jada came through with guest features on the disc. Meanwhile Dame Grease, Vinny Idol, Soul G, Red Spyda and others went in on production.

The first single off the album "Good Love," a Red Spyda track, samples the soulful Betty Wright's "Tonight Is The Night," and is getting major nationwide radio play.

D-Block's album is dropping in July and Sheek said the Lox' disc Live, Suffer and Celebrate would be out before that, with a couple of tracks slated to leak shortly. Silverback Gorilla is in stores now via Koch Records.

Despite both Diddy and Jimmy "Henchmen" Rosemond denying accusations from a recent LATimes.com article that fingered them as knowing or being involved in the 1994 shooting of Tupac Shakur, the paper's writer Chuck Philips is sticking to his guns, standing by his piece.

According to what the writer told BET.com, both men knew of the story prior to being published, and was given the chance to comment, but refused.
